German conductor (1902-1987), best known for his interpretations of the music of Anton Bruckner, Carl Orff, and Johannes Brahms, among others.

Fantastic photograph mounted on a slightly larger piece of soft cardboard signed and inscribed by him with a long sentiment, shown young in performance, dated in Rome 1939.  Total size is 7 x 9.3 inches, some repaired damage over the inscription, otherwise in excellent condition.
